How do I figure out my helmet size?
Grab a cloth tape measure and wrap it around your head about an inch above your eyebrows, at the widest point. Compare that number to the size chart on the product page, because sizing shifts from brand to brand — an HJC large and a Shoei large are not always the same hat. The helmet should feel snug with even pressure all the way around, no hot spots on your forehead or temples.
What's this about head shapes?
Your skull is either round oval, intermediate oval, or long oval when viewed from above. Most riders in the US land in intermediate oval, which is why most helmets are built that way. If a correctly sized helmet pinches your forehead and leaves gaps at the sides, you're probably long oval and shopping the wrong shell. Shape is the reason two same-size helmets can feel completely different.
Are your helmets DOT approved?
Yes. Every street helmet we sell is DOT rated to FMVSS No. 218. Plenty carry ECE or SNELL certification on top of that — it's listed on the product page when it applies.

When should I replace my helmet?
Immediately after any impact, even if the shell looks fine — the EPS liner crushes once and doesn't come back. Otherwise most manufacturers say around five years from the date of manufacture, which is printed inside the helmet.
